Electric vehicle (EV) chargers can be broadly categorized into three types, each with different power outputs and charging speeds:

Level 1 Chargers: These are the most basic type of EV chargers. They use a standard 120-volt AC outlet, the same type found in most homes. Level 1 chargers are typically used for overnight charging at home, as they offer the slowest charging speed. It can take about 8-20 hours to fully charge a typical EV using a Level 1 charger, depending on the battery size.
Level 2 Chargers: These chargers are faster than Level 1 and use a 240-volt AC outlet, which is similar to what large appliances like dryers use in homes. Level 2 chargers are often installed in homes, public parking areas, and workplaces. They can charge an EV battery from empty to full in about 4-6 hours, making them suitable for daily use.
DC Fast Chargers (Level 3 Chargers): These are the fastest type of EV chargers available. They use direct current (DC) instead of alternating current (AC) and are typically found in public charging stations, especially along highways. DC Fast Chargers can charge an EV battery to 80% in about 20-30 minutes.
