Meer Electric Installs All 3 Levels of Electric Vehicle Chargers

Electric vehicle (EV) chargers can be broadly categorized into three types, each with different power outputs and charging speeds:

  1. Level 1 Chargers: These are the most basic type of EV chargers. They use a standard 120-volt AC outlet, the same type found in most homes. Level 1 chargers are typically used for overnight charging at home, as they offer the slowest charging speed. It can take about 8-20 hours to fully charge a typical EV using a Level 1 charger, depending on the battery size.

  2. Level 2 Chargers: These chargers are faster than Level 1 and use a 240-volt AC outlet, which is similar to what large appliances like dryers use in homes. Level 2 chargers are often installed in homes, public parking areas, and workplaces. They can charge an EV battery from empty to full in about 4-6 hours, making them suitable for daily use.

  3. DC Fast Chargers (Level 3 Chargers): These are the fastest type of EV chargers available. They use direct current (DC) instead of alternating current (AC) and are typically found in public charging stations, especially along highways. DC Fast Chargers can charge an EV battery to 80% in about 20-30 minutes. However, not all EVs are compatible with DC Fast Charging, and frequent use of fast charging can affect battery health over time.

Each type of charger has its own application, with Level 1 being suitable for overnight home charging, Level 2 for home and public use, and DC Fast Chargers for quick recharging during long trips. The choice of charger often depends on the specific needs and driving patterns of the EV owner.

Great Service from the Initial Phone Call

Great service from the initial phone call to the techs that came out. They came out quickly, contacted me before to let me know they were on the way and arrived ahead of schedule. Techs were professional and knowledgeable. They efficiently fixed my issues and charged a fair price. I highly recommend them!

Polite and courteous throughout the whole process

Hired Meer Electric to install three ceiling fans in our upstairs bedrooms. Richard and Zack came on time, were polite and courteous throughout the whole process, and finished the job within a reasonable amount of time. They cleaned up after themselves before leaving, and even took the time to give advice and to answer some questions my wife had about possible future work/updating. Out of the three quotes I requested for the job, they were the most reasonable as well.

Friendly and knowledgeable

These were two of the nicest guys I’ve ever had work in my home. Although my repairs were simple this time, over the years I’ve had a hard time finding electricians that could figure out difficult wiring issues. Meer has always been able to get a smart electrician who can work through difficult situations and solve the problems. I could not ask for anything more. Great guys – neat, friendly and knowledgeable.
