Friendly and knowledgeable

These were two of the nicest guys I’ve ever had work in my home. Although my repairs were simple this time, over the years I’ve had a hard time finding electricians that could figure out difficult wiring issues. Meer has always been able to get a smart electrician who can work through difficult situations and solve the problems. I could not ask for anything more. Great guys – neat, friendly and knowledgeable.

I will always call Meer first when there is electrical project or problem. They are honest

I am a retired Roswell resident without any ties to Meer so I can honestly say… If you have any electrical issue, you need to call Meer Electric first. They are the best in customer service and resolving your electrical problems..

I made the mistake of calling another well advertised company to solve a intermittent problem on one circuit breaker. They were supposed arrive the next morning, there was no communication and they did not arrive until the afternoon. After 3 hours of fiddling with their volt meters, I was informed that I would have to spend money on a new circuit panel, smoke detectors with battery backups, some kind of permit, lots of GFCI receptacles, an Arc Fault breaker, and their ground surge package. This amounted to $14,454 and they drove away without fixing a thing. I had no ceiling lights on the first floor, porch lights, and my ceiling fans were not functioning. They did Zero.  I found screws on my hardwood floors from the ceiling fan and the wall plates. No cleanup. Not knowing how this was going to be fixed without spending a lot of money was very stressful for me. Why did they try to up-sell me and not fix the problem? Commission?

My next call was to Meer, and I was reassured by project manager Ryan that someone would be there first thing the next morning to help me. He wasn’t kidding. They communicated when they would arrive and they were on time. They listened to my explanation of how the circuit tracked, and did an immediate evaluation on the panel, which was fine. They took the time to trace back through the circuit until they found the problem. A ceiling fan at the end of the circuit had scorched wiring in the box, and the fan motor only hummed. The circuit was terminated for future fan replacement and the wall switch was taped off. There was another wiring issue identified in the living room ceiling fan that was changed. Everything was put back as it was, and I felt so much better knowing there wasn’t an electrical issue to worry about.

Sahand and Luis were very thorough and professional. I actually enjoyed talking with them and seeing them resolve my problem. They even vacuumed the floors around where they worked. It was such a relief to me to know the problem was understood, repaired and resolved, without spending a ton of money. The final cost was under $500, a far cry from what I was quoted from the first company. I will always call Meer first when there is electrical project or problem. They are honest

The History of Meer Electric
“We Consider Our Customers Our Friends”

In 1981, Rick and Judy Meer, alongside their three young sons, relocated from Cedarburg, Wisconsin to Roswell. As a second-generation electrician, Rick quickly secured a position with an electrical contracting firm in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Judy adeptly transitioned the boys into their new school environment and became actively involved in the community by joining a tennis team and the Roswell Junior Woman’s Club.

By 1984, fueled by ambition and entrepreneurial spirit, Rick and Judy founded their own electrical business, initially operating from their home. This arrangement allowed Judy to seamlessly balance business responsibilities with overseeing their expanding family.

While the Meers initially focused on new commercial construction projects, they soon discovered a passion for assisting both homeowners and businesses with their electrical necessities. As the years passed, their eldest son, Peter, took a keen interest in the family trade. Balancing his college education at Southern Polytechnical College, where he delved into the intricacies of electricity, with hands-on experience during the summers, Peter became an invaluable member of the team. He now holds the title of Vice President of Operations, testament to his dedication and expertise.

Meer Electric proudly offers an array of services, ranging from repairs, maintenance, and installation of outlets, switches, light fixtures, and ceiling fans to more intricate tasks such as generator setup and phone, cable, and computer installations. Their proficiency also extends to outdoor lighting design, installation, and repair. Notably, with their advanced equipment, they are skilled in underground directional boring. This technique enables them to set up underground wiring for various applications without the need to disrupt lawns, driveways, parking lots, or roads.

After 39 years, Rick and Judy Meer retired.  Peter and Kelly Meer have transitioned into second generation owners of Meer Electric.

As the family-run Meer Electric business expanded, the emblematic “Meer Electric Man” became a frequent sight on trucks throughout town, symbolizing the family’s growing involvement in local affairs. Since 1992, Rick has been a dedicated member of the Roswell Rotary Club. Meanwhile, Judy has held leadership roles in the Canton Street Merchants Association and the Roswell Junior Woman’s Club. In addition, she has presided over the Roswell Historical Society, contributed to the Roswell Historic Preservation Commission, and served on the Board of The Friends of Barrington Hall.

Peter dedicated over two decades to the Roswell Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Captain in 2013. For 21 years, he served both as a firefighter and an EMT. His commitment to the community is mirrored by his wife, Kelly. As a proactive member of the Roswell Junior’s Woman’s Club, she initiated the Safety Town Program in partnership with the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department in 2004. This commendable initiative has educated more than 12,000 young children, aged 4 to 6, on the essentials of street safety, stranger danger, and the protective roles of policemen and firefighters. Part of the program’s success is attributed to interactive sessions where children engage directly with uniformed professionals from both the police and fire departments. Complementing their parents’ community involvement, Kelly’s daughters, Cierra and Anna Marie, have been active members of the National Charity League Organization since 2013.

Meer Electric has proudly partnered with esteemed programs like Habitat for Humanity and Homes for our Troops. Additionally, we’ve sponsored community pillars such as Roswell North Elementary Foundation, Roswell High School sports initiatives, the Chattahoochee Nature Center, North Fulton Charities, and Friends of Bulloch Hall, to name a few. “Our deep roots in the Roswell community, reflected in our support for the very schools our children and grandchildren attend, has enriched our lives immeasurably. To us, our customers are more than just clients; they’re our friends. Every opportunity we get to make a difference brings us closer to this community we cherish, giving us a profound sense of belonging,” shares Judy Meer.
