Meer Electric Wires Veteran’s Home

In the heat of day on Saturday, July 30, 2016, Meer Electric and 11 of their employees volunteered their time and talent in support of our country’s disabled veterans through the Gary Sinise Foundation.  R.I.S.E. -Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment program from the Foundation provides specially adapted smart homes, home modifications, mobility devices, and adapted vehicles to America’s most severely wounded heroes and their families.  Along with Meer Electric, four of IEC’s Partner Members donated the wire and devices, and included Vallen Distribution, Inc., Legrand, Square D, and Southwire.

This is the first of two Gary Sinise Foundation homes that Meer Electric wired.  In the past they have also wired homes for Habitat for Humanity and Homes for Our Troops.  When I asked Rick Meer why he got involved with this project, he simply stated, “It’s just the right thing to do.”  Rick said his father had instilled in him the value of patriotism and pride in our country.  Many of us feel a great pride in our country, but it’s a whole other thing to actually put the action behind that feeling, and it was clearly evident when I witnessed the amount of positive energy from the entire Meer staff on Saturday.  Included in the staff was Rick’s son Peter Meer, Supervisor Richard McClure, two IEC 3rd year apprentices; Robert Snodgrass and Rich McMahan, IEC graduate Matt Blankinship.

“Thank you Rick Meer and all those who volunteered to support our country’s veterans!”
